The Killers were created by Brandon Flowers in 2002, when he met his fellow bandmates (David Keuning on guitar, Mark Stoermer on bass, Ronnie Vannucci on drums) in their hometown of Las Vegas. Keuning and Stoermer started collaborating on material soon after they met, which resulted in their later hit “Mr. Brightside”. The song appeared on the album Hot Fuss. Eventually, the band got a record deal in the U.K., and touring quickly followed. More hits off the album resulted from this, including “Somebody Told Me”, “Smile Like You Mean It”, and “All These Things That I’ve Done”. The album eventually earned the band five Grammy nominations. Their second album focused more on old fashioned values and the good old days; their single “When You Were Young” was a taste of what was to come from their album Sam’s Town. By 2008, however, the Killers had taken yet another approach. Day & Age was a pop filled, dance rock creation. A new producer and all new songs helped put that particular plan in motion.
