The incredible Erykah Badu first shot to fame when she opened a 1994 concert for D'Angelo in her native Dallas.  Record label executive Kedar Massenburg saw the concert and was so impressed by Badu that he immediately signed her to his Kedar Entertainment, for whom she released the breakout album Baduzim in 1997.  The record quickly went 3x Platinum on the back of singles like "On & On," "Next Lifetime," and "Otherside of the Game," and established her as one of the rising stars of the burgeoning Neo-Soul movement.  Since then, she's released new music sporadically, her long periods of downtime indicative of an enigmatic persona.
