Jeff Tweedy: The 2024 Tour

Alt country legend Jeff Tweedy is taking a break from his iconic band Wilco, hitting the road on a Summer solo tour — one he's bringing to the Vic Theatre on June 1st, 2024!  The singer, songwriter, and guitarist is on the road in support of his new album Warm, a record that's been getting plenty of critical and popular acclaim due to its message of hope and compassion in the face of an increasingly turbulent and uncertain world.  Allmusic called it "the equivalent of a warm hug from a good friend in a time of need," and we think you'll agree.

Few artists have done as much for rock and roll over the past 30 years as Jeff Tweedy.  The Belleville, IL native began learning the guitar after a childhood accident left him laid up for asummer, and began playing in bands in high school.  He met guitarist Jay Farrar and drummer Mike Heidorn when they played for a garage rock band called the Primitives, and eventually formed the groundbreaking alternative country Uncle Tupelo together.  After seven years releasing albums of great critical acclaim and middling commercial success, Uncle Tupelo broke up, with Farrar and Heidorn forming Son Volt, and Tweedy teaming with John Stirratt, Max Johnston, and Ken Coomer.to form Wilco.  Their first album AM continued the trend of high quality and low sales he'd established with Uncle Tupelo, but their follow-up, the sprawling double album Being There sold 300,000 records, and 1999's Summerteeth moved similar volume while receiving even more rapturous acclaim.

Then came 2001's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, which was immediately acclaimed as one of the greatest albums of the 21st Century, sold nearlhy 700,000 units, and established Wilco as one of the most influential rock bands on the planet.  While its recording, mixing, and release were marred by in-fighting and label issues, it remains a triumph, and the band's signature effort.  More albums have followed, nearly all of them critically and popularly acclaimed, and Tweedy would become a prolific solo artist as well.
