Formed as the Bisons in Buffalo, NY in 1946, the team that would become the Atlanta Hawks only lasted 38 days in their original hometown before decamping for Moline, IL, where they played as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks for the next five years.  A 1951 move to Milwaukee came with a shortened name, as the team finally became simply the Hawks, a moniker they kept as they moved to St. Louis in 1955.  Their 13-year stay in the Gateway City was marked by their only championship, and since 1968, they've called the Peach State home.
